New Medical Marijuana Cultivation Center Located Near Fort Worth

TX Marijuana Greenhouse

The old Gunter Cotton Gin facility, which is 100-years old and roughly 70-miles outside of Fort Worth, will be converted by AquiFlow into a greenhouse to produce, manufacture and distribute cannabidiol (CBD) oil for Texas medical marijuana patients.

Texas lawmakers recently adopted a bill allowing the use of CBD oil to treat rare forms of epilepsy. Children with these severe seizure disorders can qualify to obtain and use CBD oil.

CEO of AquiFlow, Patrick Moran says, “From this location, we can reach Dallas and Fort Worth in an hour or less. We want to reach as many patients as we can possibly reach. We intend to get a lot of medicine out to a lot of people for a long time.”

According to Star Telegram, licenses will be given to approved companies by summer of 2017. A limited number of licenses, speculation says 3 licenses, for the industry will be awarded. It is estimated that roughly 150,000 Texans suffer from intractable epilepsy or other severe forms of the disease.

Moran went on to say, “It’s going to take a long time to get everything ready. We have to be basically ready to turn on the lights before we can get a license. The goal is to finish roughly 12 months from now.”

Continuing on, Moran also said that, “If we got licensed June 1, 2017, we could put plants in the ground by June 2. Depending on the strain and other factors, that could take roughly 90 days to grow. Around September 2017, the first oil could be going out. We are working hard to make sure we get medicine to kids.”

Senate Bill 339, also known as the Texas Compassionate Use Act, requested by parents of epileptic children in Texas, goes into effect on June 1st. Representative Stephanie Klick is in support of the bill. She said, “It takes time to setup and develop products. I’m very encouraged with the work the DPS is doing to try to be ready for the deadline.”
