Cansortium Texas received the state’s first license to cultivate medical marijuana. With the license, Cansortium Texas is permitted to sell, grow and process medical marijuana for the state’s qualifying patients.

Texas has only approved the sale and production of CBD that contains small amounts of THC, according to Dallas News.  Two other companies, Surterra Texas and Compassionate Cultivation are expected to receive license approvals in the near future. Licensing fees in Texas are step, as the initial fee is almost $490,000.

The bi-annual license renewal fee in Texas is $320,000. Cansortium expects to have product available to epileptic patients sometime in December.

Jose Hidalgo of Cansortium said, “Our focus is to give access to patients.”
