Texas Medical Marijuana Products to Be Available This Winter

CBD

This December, cannabidiol (CBD) products may be available to patients in Texas. The Compassionate Care Act went into effect in 2015, patients are still having a hard time accessing the CBD oil. Three companies are licensed to grow marijuana to manufacture and distribute product in the state.

The licensed companies can’t distribute their product to patients via regular or air mail, according to Rare Houston. Federal regulations prevent distribution via mail. The law makes it hard for them to access their medicine.

Some patients have to drive to dispensaries that may not be in close proximity to their homes. Sometimes a dispensary may have to arrange to deliver the product to the patients. In either case, several hours of travel are required just to obtain CBD oil.

Some Texas patients say that the restrictions on the health conditions approved for using the oil prohibits others from benefitting from the CBD oil. Right now, only those with intractable epilepsy that have tried at least 2 conventional medicine treatments qualify.

The restrictions on manufacturing, distributing and licensing may cause the price of the oil to increase.
