Lawmakers in Texas File 32 Marijuana-Related Bills

Texas Cannabis Laws

Thirty-two marijuana-related bills have been filed in Texas in 2019.

Some legislation is seeking clarity regarding CBD, CBS DFW News noted, while other on reducing penalties. The amount of marijuana-related legislation shows a shift of opinion.

There are 7 bills just about expanding the state’s Compassionate Use Act.

Representative Stephanie Klick has legislation in the works to add MS, spasticity, terminal illnesses and palliative care for long-term degenerative ailments to the current program.

Other bills are hoping to add these conditions:

  • Cancer
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV
  • PTSD

Five bills want clarity and regulation for CBD. Nine bills are on the table to reduce marijuana possession penalties and take away jail time.

The Texas legislative session ends in May.
