Texas Is Accepting Applications for Dispensary Licenses Till Nov 1

Applications to open a medical marijuana dispensary in Texas can be submitted until November 1. The application period is only open for the month of October. Applications are said to be approved based on merit for production.

The Texas Compassionate Use Program allows products to contain up to 0.5% THC, Daily Texas Online reported. The number of licenses granted will also depend on the patient demand. Currently, Texas only has 3 open dispensaries for the entire state.

Many oppose the 0.5% THC cap on products stating that it limits the abilities of the medicine. Some also argue that Texas needs to expand its list of qualifying conditions.

Heather Fazio of Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy said, “There are so many other conditions that really need to be included in this program, and frankly, it should be up to the doctors and the patients to be making this decision rather than the state legislature.”
